Aggieland Sports Alliance Vision:
We start with U10 girls that are in the 4th grade. This is our introductory level to the Aggieland Sports Alliance program. We encourage this group to participate in as many sports as possible even if you have never played before. This is an opportunity to learn and develop in a variety of athletic endeavors.
As the girls enter the U11 age group (5th grade), we continue to encourage them to play as many sports as possible. At this level, we will start forming competitive teams. We will take the selected teams to play in competitive leagues/tournaments locally and in the Houston area. We encourage athletes that are not on the competitive team to continue training with the Academy group (see section below for more information on the Academy group).
The U12 group (6th graders) continue to train/compete in as many sports as they would like. They are preparing to play for their school sports the following year. The girls are realizing which sports they truly enjoy and can see themselves pursing long-term.
At U13, the girls are in 7th grade and are now competing for their schools. They can play as many school sports as they would like, while competing/training in two Twelve sports. At this point, we have developed our players into competent athletes who are ready to play at the next level and represent their schools.
U14, the girls are in 8th grade and are still playing school sports. They will continue competing/training in two Aggieland Sports Alliance sports.
Once the girls reach U15 and enter high school, we recommend our athletes to start focusing on one sport competitively with us and continue representing their schools.
Do I have to play on the competitive team with the Aggieland Sports Alliance or can I just train?
No, you do not have to play on the competitive team with the Aggieland Sports Alliance. We have developmental programs that provides training in soccer, basketball and volleyball with our coaching staff. The developmental program is local and focuses on the fundamentals of the game and skill development. The development programs are open to anyone who is looking to develop athletically with training sessions throughout the year.
Wow! That sounds like a great concept but how exactly does the schedule work with each sport?
